Welsh Conservatives have welcomed the launch of a new skills training scheme in North Wales.
Shadow Skills Secretary, Mohammad Asghar, said it was vital to ensure that local workers had the skills to benefit from major economic projects like Wylfa Newydd.
However, there was a word of caution from the South Wales East AM, who challenged the Welsh Government to deliver “better outcomes” from EU funding streams.
“This scheme will be a welcome boost to North Wales, but we need to see better outcomes from EU funding and any funding streams which follow once we have left the European Union.
“Skills training is essential for economic development and there must be innovative schemes to kickstart careers for younger people; and, in particular, to ensure that there are enough local workers with the necessary skill levels to benefit from projects like Wylfa Newydd and the Menai Science Park.”
