National Children’s Day 2020 is more important than ever, Local Member of the Welsh Parliament, Mohammad Asghar, said today.

National Children’s Day in the United Kingdom takes place on Sunday, 17 May and aims to share the activities of all the organisations working to promote and protect the wellbeing of children and young people throughout the country.

Mohammad Asghar said:

“National Children’s Day was designed to highlight the importance of a healthy childhood and how we protect the rights and freedoms of children to ensure they grow into happy, healthy adults.”

“This year this is more important than ever”

“The last few months have proved very disruptive to Children’s lives. With schools closed, they are missing their families, friends and teachers.”

“We need to give them hope. The Welsh Government needs to produce a timetable to lift the lockdown an reopen our schools as soon as possible.”
