Asghar raises concerns about secondary school attendance in Blaenau Gwent

Mohammad Asghar, Assembly Member for South East Wales, has written to the Minister for Education to raise concerns about attendance at secondary schools in Blaenau Gwent.

Mohammad Asghar said:

“According to a recent report, over the last three years, attendance at secondary schools in the Borough has failed to improve.”

“Blaenau Gwent ranks lower than all the other local authorities in South East Wales, and well below the Welsh average of 93.8 per cent.”

“I have asked the Minister for a statement on what action she intends to take to address this serious situation which has seen Blaenau Gwent ranked twentieth out of twenty one Welsh Local Authorities for secondary school attendance for the last three years.”
