Mohammad Asghar AM recently visited Cyfarthfa High School to discuss ways of engaging young people with the democratic process.
Cyfarthfa High School invited Mr Asghar to speak to pupils as part of their programme to promote pupil voice and to increase their knowledge and awareness of democracy over the last two years.
The school has encouraged pupils to become active citizens by various means including visits to the Assembly, being involved in local deputy youth mayor elections and the Make Your Mark campaign.
They are also actively encouraging students to stand for the new Wales Youth parliament.
Mohammad Asghar said;
“I would like to thank Tracey Griffith, the Assistant Headteacher at Cyfarthfa High School for inviting me to speak to the pupils about engaging with the democratic process and to answer their questions.”
“I welcome their work to encourage active citizenship and am delighted to have had the chance to play a part in this worthwhile programme.”
